It looks like Mr Cleansheets is going international with an upcoming appearance at the next London Book Fair.

For those of you lucky enough to be in London between April 11-13, why not visit the London Book Fair and seek out your copy of Mr Cleansheets and support local Australian author Adrian Deans.

It seems that there's been a fair bit of interest recently in Brisbane regarding everyone's favourite fictional goalkeeper. So much interest, indeed, that we're seriously looking at arranging a signing or similar style event up there. Watch this space.

Mr C has been selling strongly in certain bookshops, including the airport, and there's also been some net forum activity by readers:

How yer goin'?

Thought some of youse lot might be interested in what some arseholes reckon about Mr Cleansheets.

This review appeared in FourFourTwo and it totally blew me away:

There have been quite a few others in the print media - all of them positive with the exception of Dan Silkstone in The Age. Why is it, that the only reviewer who didn't get where the book's coming from is writing for The Age! Why wasn't he writing for the Walla Walla Times? For god's sake! There is a tradition of totally over the top British football stories...like Roy of the Rovers...and even Billy the Fish. That's where Mr Cleansheets is coming from and idiot Silkstone is too intent on coming up with amusing bag lines like: "the plot is overstretched like a bad knee" to appreciate the true art of Mr C. (Okay...I laughed when I read that line...but he's still cost me readers!)

Hey guys

Sorry it's taken so long to get this blog thing happening...all Muth's fault.

Well, Mr Cleansheets has been out for three months now and I couldn't be happier with the response. I've been interviewed several times on radio, several times in newspapers and magazines and there have been about 8 reviews - 7 of them extremely positive. Naturally, the only review less than positive was the one in The Age by Dan Silkstone. I was actually quite amused by his criticism of the plot: "the fabric of believability is overextended like a crook knee". Unfortunately Dan didn't get the fact that the over-the-top plot is the main joke of the entire story - reminiscent of the old Roy of the Rovers, or even Billy the Fish tradition of British football stories. Never mind. There are some other reviews that really got it - especially Neil Humphreys' review in FourFourTwo, so thanks Neil.

Also, the personal feedback I've had so far has been brilliant. A lot of people seem to have really enjoyed the book and I'm constantly getting the message that Mr C is a book to be savoured on holiday. I really did set out to create the big, holiday page turner so that pleases me greatly.

The latest news is that the book is now available at the airport, which is a massive breakthrough, but I've been constantly frustrated at how so many bookshops sell out and then don't bother to re-order. If you're ever at the shops with a minute to spare, check out the bookshops and if they don't have Mr Cleansheets on the shelf, ask why not. That would help me a lot.
